Ferwerda Family Scholarship

Fred Ferwerda established this scholarship in honor of his daughter Nicole. This devoted Calvin University math major has taught mathematics at Lynden Christian High School for over 30 years. This scholarship supports third- or fourth-year Calvin students who aspire to become high school math teachers, celebrating Nicole’s lifelong impact as an educator.

Basic criteria:

• entering junior or senior year
• cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher
• majoring in education
• financial need is considered
• first preference is for an education major who intends to be a math teacher

Renewal criteria: Students who wish to be considered for renewal must file a new application each year and will be given equal consideration with other candidates.
