Vernon and Johanna Ehlers Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Dr. Vernon and Mrs. Johanna Ehlers of Grand Rapids, MI. Dr. Ehlers was a physics professor at Calvin for many years until he was elected to the state legislature in 1983. After serving as a state representative and then a state senator, he was elected to the United States Congress in 1994. Dr. and Mrs. Ehlers have established this scholarship out of gratitude for the blessings received from God, and especially for the blessing of quality Christian education received by the members of the Ehlers family.

Basic criteria:

• entering freshman year
• cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher
• have good academic potential and also be a well-rounded person with other interests. Demonstrate good moral character, seriously concerned about being Christ’s representative
• financial need is required

Renewal criteria: This scholarship is not renewable.
