Hazel Lawson Teacher Education Scholarship
Mr. Hanford Lawson established this scholarship in honor of his wife, Hazel, a dedicated wife, mother, and volunteer. Since Hazel truly enjoyed teaching young children, this scholarship is awarded to students who have an interest in early childhood education and who can articulate a dependence on the Lord and His guidance according to Proverbs 3:6, “In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.”
Basic criteria:
- entering junior or senior year (students in their 5th year or those returning for an education degree or teaching certification are also eligible)
- cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher
- interested in early childhood education
- financial need is considered
- in addition to meeting the other criteria, the recipient should be able to articulate a dependence on the Lord and his guidance according to Proverbs 3:6, “In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.”
Renewal criteria: This scholarship is automatically renewable with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher. Renewal is subject to funding availability.
