Leonard and Clara Sweetman Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Dr. Leonard and Mrs. Clara Sweetman of Grand Rapids, MI, to support students eager for the Reformed Christian education they will receive at Calvin University. Dr. Sweetman was a professor at Calvin for many years and Mrs. Sweetman taught in the Christian schools, primarily kindergarten. The Sweetmans have ties to Reformed churches worldwide—including Japan and South Africa.

Basic criteria:

• entering freshman, sophomore, junior or senior year
• cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher
• have a matriculation record that warrants admission to university-level study
• preference is given to a U.S citizen who has been living in Japan, a child of a missionary or a student from South Africa
• financial need is considered

Renewal criteria: This scholarship is automatically renewable if the recipient is making satisfactory academic progress (one year only). Renewal is subject to funding availability.
