Howard and Betty Van Till Scholarship

Howard J. and Betty L. Van Till established this scholarship to honor the excellence of Calvin’s Department of Physics and Astronomy in preparing students for fruitful careers in these fundamental sciences. Howard Van Till served as Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Calvin for 31 years before his retirement in 1997. In both his teaching and his writing, Professor Van Till challenged Christian students to construct their worldviews in a way that demonstrated a high regard for what the natural sciences have learned about the universe that makes possible the rich experience of human life.

Basic criteria:

• entering sophomore, junior, or senior year
• have an overall GPA of a B+ or better
• pursuing a major in physics
• financial need is not required

Renewal criteria: Students who wish to be considered for renewal must file a new application each year and will be given equal consideration with other candidates.
