Robert and Wilhemina Pool Family

This scholarship honors Robert and Wilhemina Pool and their strong commitment to family and to Christian education. All five of their children attended Calvin College. The three sons became physicians, John an endocrinologist, Bob a plastic surgeon, and Lee a general surgeon; one of the daughters, Mary Kaminskas, became a nurse, and the other daughter, Helen Pool, an elementary school teacher. All of the children were encouraged to look for areas where they might be of service to others. Robert and Wilhemina took deep interest in their children’s health-related work and joy in their career achievements, reflecting the value they placed on hard work and productive service.
