Leonard Hofman

Leonard Hofman

Elaine and Leonard Hofman were vitally involved in music during their years in high school, college and thereafter. They were members of the Grand Rapids Christian High School Acapella choir. At Calvin College they were members of the Musicians’ Guild, sang in the original radio choir for The Back to God Hour, the Acapella choir, and the Calvin Oratorio Society. After graduating from Calvin, Leonard was a member of the Calvin Seminary choir and quartet. Elaine sang in various church choirs as well as the Community Chorale in Holland, Michigan. While living in Grand Rapids they sang with the Calvin oratorio in its presentation of Handel’s Messiah. Music has been a very important part of their ministry in the Christian Reformed Church. The Hofman’s four children and their spouses are graduates of Calvin College. Most of their grandchildren have graduate from or are attending Calvin. Two of their daughters majored in music at Calvin and today serve as church organists. Several grandchildren have played brass, woodwind, and string instruments in Calvin musical ensembles.
