Judith Hiemenga

This scholarship is established by Judy Hiemenga to honor her late husband, Stan Hiemenga. Stan loved Calvin College with all the opportunities it offered him. It first lured him with independence. He was from Alameda, California and Calvin was the only out of state college his parents would allow him to attend. He also loved the Christian atmosphere, the camaraderie with Christian friends both old and new. He loved the opportunity to study business in a Christian atmosphere and with a Christian perspective. And he loved cross country and track and field. He started running as a distance runner but was happiest to have been part of a very special mile relay team. This scholarship will provide a student with an opportunity to discover some of the joy Stan experienced during his years at Calvin College.
