John D. Warners Family

John D. Warners showed unwavering commitment to education throughout his life. He taught high school mathematics at Grand Rapids Christian High School for 37 years, during which time he also coached cross-country and track. He and his wife Jane supported all five of their children through Christian schools and John and Jane, as well as all their children, are alumni of Calvin College. John was a superb teacher and showed special patience for students who struggled in his classes, willingly devoting extra time and effort to help them learn. John was also devoted to racial reconciliation; he worked to promote and affirm cultural diversity in his neighborhood, school and church. This scholarship was established in John’s memory to encourage Secondary Math Education students who share similar values.
