Henrietta De Loof
This scholarship was established by Miss Henrietta De Loof as a demonstration of her appreciation for the education she received at Calvin College. Miss De Loof graduated from Calvin in 1936 with an education degree. Her varied career saw her teach in both public and Christian schools in Grand Rapids as well as time spent in business and public relations. She was also Calvin’s first art instructor, teaching art to students for three years from 1941 – 1944. Her classroom was the science lab since, at that time, any “hands on” work and instruction took place in the laboratory. This scholarship is intended to provide financial support for students who will effectively integrate the world of art into their classrooms.
