Gerald and Ellen Gabrielse

Gerald Gabrielse and his wife Ellen establish this scholarship to encourage outstanding physics students to attend Calvin. Gabrielse is the Leverett Professor of Physics at Harvard University and past chair of the Harvard Physics Department. He and the international team that he leads are known for developing ways to cool and manipulate extremely cold antimatter particles and for making cold antihydrogen atoms. He has received numerous awards for his work, including the 2011 Julius Edgar Lilienfeld Prize from the American Physical Society. Gabrielse also received Calvin’s Distinguished Alumni Award and has served on Calvin’s Board of Trustees.
