Dr. Donald H. Bouma Scholarship in Sociology and Social Work

Dr. Donald H. Bouma was Calvin’s first professor of sociology. Dr. Bouma taught at Calvin from 1946-1960. During his tenure, both at Calvin and elsewhere, he did groundbreaking work in civil rights, community organization, and developing Christian perspectives on social problems. This scholarship was established in his memory.

Basic criteria:

  • entering junior or senior year
  • cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher
  • pursuing a major in sociology or social work
  • financial need is considered

Renewal criteria: This scholarship is not renewable.
