Susan Lemmen Byker Scholarship

Former Michigan State Senator Gary Byker (Calvin class of 1954) and his wife Henrietta (Blankespoor) Byker endowed this scholarship in honor of their daughter-in-law Susan (Lemmen) Byker, her many years of service as a teacher in Christian, public, and international schools, and her support of their son, Gaylen Byker, Calvin’s eighth president.

Basic criteria:

• entering freshman year
• minimum GPA of 3.30 or higher
• graduate of Unity Christian High School in Hudsonville, MI, planning to major in education. If no students from Unity Christian High School are going into education, then others from Unity Christian High School may be considered.
• financial need is considered

Renewal criteria: This scholarship is not renewable.
