John Miller Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Rev. John V. M. Koole in memory of his uncle John Miller. Mr. Miller was born October 22, 1901, a few days after his father Wm. Molesteeg turned 60, the last of eight children of Sarah Haagsma Molesteeg. He was a lifetime member of the Midland Park CRC, where he was an organist from 1920-1950. Later he directed Paterson’s Cathedral Choir for many years. He loved oratorio and opera. He alone of the family was permitted to finish high school, after which he took a position with Standard Oil, later Consolidated Gas, in their Rockefeller Building office in New York City. He lived with his mother and two sisters until 1957 when he married Helen Walkotten, who survived him at his death in June, 1989. Mr. Miller supported the donor in his love for music and drama and assisted him financially in his Calvin education.
