Willis and Gertrude DeBoer Scholarship

Willis DeBoer and Gertrude Hekman both graduated from Calvin in 1948. After serving in the ministry for several years, Willis went to the Netherlands with his family to earn a Ph.D. in Theology. He returned to Calvin as a faculty member in 1962 and taught in the Religion and Theology Department until 1988. Calvin has been an important and significant part of their family providing education, professional opportunity and entertainment for over 60 years.

Basic criteria:

  • entering freshman, sophomore, junior or senior year
  • cumulative GPA of 2.80 or higher
  • pre-seminary student or a student pursuing religious studies
  • financial need is required

Renewal criteria: Students who wish to be considered for renewal must file a new application each year and will be given equal consideration with other candidates.
