Glen and Gloria Van Andel Family Scholarship

Glen and Gloria Van Andel were first generation Calvin University students who, following their education, pursued careers in human services and education. Gloria was a resource specialist assisting elementary and middle school students with learning differences. Glen began his career in mental health as a recreation therapist and transitioned into directing the professional degree program in recreation and recreation therapy in the Kinesiology Department at Calvin. In addition, their three children and several of their grandchildren continued their legacy of transformative educational experiences at Calvin, going on to serve as teachers, social workers, health care practitioners, community developers, and several other service professionals. By establishing this scholarship, the Van Andel Family extends this legacy to students who aspire to become “agents of renewal” in God’s world. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to students who demonstrate significant potential and a commitment to academic excellence. The scholarship aims to support individuals who may otherwise face barriers to higher education. By alleviating some of the financial burden, the Glen and Gloria Van Andel Family Scholarship seeks to encourage recipients to pursue their educational goals at Calvin University and become leaders in their communities.
