James and Angeline Bosscher Scholarship

Wayne Nguyen Hung ’76 was born in Vietnam but left his country because of the war. After transitioning through a refugee camp, he was able to come to the U.S. and was given an opportunity to pursue a college education through the support of the Calvin community. Out of gratitude for the important influence of James and Angie Bosscher during his time at Calvin, Wayne and his wife Lien established this scholarship to honor Dr. James Bosscher who dedicated his life-long contributions to the engineering program at Calvin.

Basic criteria:

  • entering sophomore or junior year
  • pursuing a degree in engineering
  • financial need is considered
  • first preference is to support students who have overcome educational, social or economic barriers in pursuit of higher education; students who demonstrate greater financial need will receive first consideration

Renewal criteria: Students who wish to be considered for renewal must file a new application each year and will be given equal consideration with other candidates.
