James and Pearl Koning Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Sam and Judy Van Til Family from Crown Point, IN in memory of Judy’s parents James and Pearl Koning. Jim and Peg lived through the Great Depression and World War II. They made many personal sacrifices so their children could have a Christian education which they valued. When their granddaughter Jana was born with Downs Syndrome, they recognized the importance of providing quality education for people with special needs. This scholarship is designed to support students who are majoring in special education with a Christian focus that Calvin University provides.

Basic criteria:

• entering junior or senior year
• majoring in special education
• financial need is considered

Renewal criteria: This scholarship is automatically renewable if the student continues to make satisfactory academic progress. Renewal is subject to funding availability.
