Hamstra Foundation Scholarship

The trustees of the Bernard and Dorothy Hamstra Charitable Foundation established this scholarship in recognition of the Hamstras’ dedicated support of Christian education. The scholarship was established for students from northern and central New Jersey, priority being given to those from Eastern Christian High School in North Haledon, NJ, to assist these students desiring to attend Calvin University.

Basic criteria:

• entering freshman year
• cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher
• attending or a graduate of Eastern Christian High School in North Haledon, NJ, or another high school in the central or northern New Jersey area. Preference will be given to students from Eastern Christian High School.
• financial need is considered
• if the above requirements are met, other factors that may be considered include: Christian character, a strong work ethic or motivation, academic achievement, and leadership ability.

Renewal criteria: This scholarship is automatically renewable if the recipient is making satisfactory academic progress (three years only – for four years maximum scholarship assistance). Renewal is subject to funding availability.
