J. Russel Bouws/Russ' Restaurant Scholarship

Mr. Howard De Haan, former owner of the Russ’ Restaurants in Kent County, and Julia Bouws, spouse of J. Russel, established this scholarship to honor Mr. J. Russel Bouws, founder of Russ’ Restaurants in Holland, MI. Mr. De Haan and Mrs. Bouws would like to recognize Mr. Bouws for all he has done for the people of West Michigan.

Basic criteria:

• entering freshman, sophomore, junior or senior year
• cumulative high school GPA of 2.70 or higher for incoming students; cumulative Calvin GPA of 2.30 or higher for current Calvin students
• working employee of one of the Russ’ Restaurants in Allegan, Kent, Ottawa or Muskegon counties
• minimum of one year of service at the time of application for the scholarship
• financial need is considered

Renewal criteria: Students who wish to be considered for renewal must file a new application each year and will be given equal consideration with other candidates.
