Sun Valley Scholarship

This scholarship was established to honor the work of two specific people and to encourage others like them who attend Calvin University. The scholarship honors the work of Urban Ministry Leaders, like Kristen Styf Rollerson ’98, the Executive Director of Sun Valley Youth Center in Denver, Colorado, and others like her who daily challenge, encourage and inspire young people. In addition, this scholarship seeks to honor first-generation college students like Annette Espinoza Galvan ’19 who was mentored by Kristen and attended Calvin University and earned a BA in English Literature. This scholarship was established in the spirit of Matthew 25:40 to encourage and support first-generation college students from underserved communities, like Annette, in their pursuit of learning and education at Calvin University.

Basic criteria:

• entering freshman, sophomore, junior or senior year
• attended Sun Valley Youth Center in Denver, CO
• if there is no student from Sun Valley, second preference is for a first-generation college student from an under-served population
• financial need is required
