Voetberg Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Robert D. Voetberg and his late wife, Sharon, in honor and memory of their sons Mike and Tony. Sharon, Mike, Tony were all afflicted with Muscular Dystrophy and fought this progressive disease until they were each called home to eternal healing: Mike in 1993; Tony in 2003; and Sharon in 2018. While at Calvin, both Mike and Tony were supported by scholarships that encouraged students with physical challenges. This generosity had a profound impact on their family, and because of this support, Mike ’91 and Tony ’96 were both proud Calvin graduates. In response, the Voetbergs created this scholarship to recognize promising students with disabilities and assist them in meeting educational expenses. Through this award, the memories of Mike, Tony and Sharon are honored by supporting Calvin students who struggle just like they did.
