Henry and Marian Ippel Diversity Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the children of Dr. Henry and Marian Ippel to recognize Dr. Henry Ippel’s many years of service as a professor of history at Calvin College and to honor their parents for their strong commitment to Christian education, for the sacrifices they made to send six children to Christian schools and Calvin College, and for their fervent belief in the diversity of God’s kingdom. Throughout their lives, Henry and Marian Ippel have voiced a strong belief that the Christian community should reflect and value cultural and ethnic diversity and that Calvin College has a responsibility to provide educational opportunities for minority young people. The Ippels have also supported and encouraged their children in their cross-cultural work and contacts that have extended from inner-city Grand Rapids, to Rehoboth Christian School in New Mexico, and to people across the globe.
