West Michigan Optometric Scholarship

This scholarship was established by a number of optometrists practicing in West Michigan who received and are appreciative of their pre-optometry training at Calvin. They also want to recognize the Biology Department and in particular the work of John Ubels who does basic science research on eye tear film and is also dedicated to pre-optometry students at Calvin. Through this scholarship, the donors wish to encourage students to consider a career in optometry.

Basic criteria:

• entering junior or senior year
• cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher
• biology or biochemistry major or a biotechnology minor, intending to pursue a career in optometry
• financial need is considered

Renewal criteria: This scholarship is automatically renewable if the scholarship criteria continues to be met. Renewal is subject to funding availability.
