Watts Family Scholarship
Gifted and determined, William Watts graduated from Calvin in 1997, headed to medical school, culminating in a career as a pathologist. William’s desire to empower the next generation of students inspired him and his wife, Nicole, to establish the Watts Family Scholarship. William and Nicole Watts founded the scholarship in response to their love for God and his provisions to them. The scholarship is designed to support minority students from Southern California; students who are pursuing a career in the medical field and who demonstrate financial need.
Basic criteria:
- entering freshman year
- cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher
- ethnic minority student
- pursuing a career in medicine (pre-med) or nursing
- financial need as defined by government programs is required
- first preference will be given to students from southern California. Second preference will be given to students from anywhere in California and third preference is to any ethnic minority student that demonstrates financial need.
Renewal criteria: This scholarship is automatically renewable for four years if the student is making satisfactory academic progress. Renewal is subject to funding availability.
