Henry Bengelink Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established to honor the memory of Professor Henry Bengelink and his wife, Pearl. Henry was one of seven children of very poor Dutch immigrant parents. He earned his way through Calvin in the midst of the Great Depression and then returned there after World War II as a professor of biology for more than thirty years. He is remembered by his sons and his students for his knowledge and love of his subject and for his life-long commitment to the art of teaching.
Basic criteria:
- entering junior or senior year
- cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher
- biology major
- intend to become a teacher at the high school or college level
- financial need is considered
Renewal criteria: This scholarship is automatically renewable if the scholarship criteria continues to be met (one year only). Renewal is subject to funding availability.
