Harry and Bernice Vermeer Family Pella Promise

Mrs. Bernice Vermeer and family established this scholarship to honor the life and legacy of the late Harry G. Vermeer. Following his education at Calvin College (1951), Harry pursued many interests but none more fervently than his work. Harry was a very spiritual and benevolent individual. His positive attitude and Christian witness were contagious. The Harry and Bernice Vermeer family established this award for prospective students from Pella Community High School and Pella Christian High School.

Basic criteria:

• entering freshman year (transfers may apply)
• from Pella Christian High School or Pella Community High School, graduating in May/June 2009 or after
• admitted to Calvin University as a first-year, degree-seeking undergraduate student
• admitted to Calvin University by February 1 of their senior year of high school for priority consideration
• U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen
• transfer students are eligible to receive half of the estimated award each year

Renewal criteria: This scholarship is automatically renewable if the recipient is making satisfactory academic progress (three years only). Renewal is subject to funding availability.
