Dr. Sandra E. Klassen Memorial Scholarship
Established by David Klassen (‘74) and Dr. Brian Klassen (’07), this scholarship seeks to honor the legacy of Dr. Sandra Klassen (‘74). A lifelong and passionate student, Calvin was Sandra’s intellectual home. She took delight in understanding the complexity of God’s creation through the study of chemistry, and she inspired a similar sense of awe in all those around her. After leaving Calvin, she obtained masters and doctorate degrees in organic chemistry, and she worked for decades for the US Department of Energy, making significant contributions to the performance of lithium-ion batteries and improved detection of explosives.
