Find Us Faithful - The Lester and Gladys DeVries Family Scholarship

In celebration of their parents’ 55th wedding anniversary, the children of Lester and Gladys DeVries established this scholarship. Christian schools and education have been an important part of their family life. After graduation from Calvin, Les taught at Highland Christian School and eventually became the principal at North Christian School in Kalamazoo, MI. Gladys had a teaching certificate from Calvin and used it in support of Les’ career. This legacy continues as their grandchildren attend Kalamazoo Christian Schools and many of them have continued on to Calvin. The parents’ constant encouragement and support to each member of their immediate and extended family has helped them to find their place in the world and taught them by example to use their gifts for Christian service. It is the family’s hope that this scholarship will assist others to do the same and contribute to future generations being faithful.

Basic criteria:

• entering sophomore, junior, or senior year
• pursuing a degree in education
• making satisfactory academic progress
• first preference will be given to graduates from either Kalamazoo Christian High School in Kalamazoo, MI or from Illiana Christian School in Dyer, IN. If no education major is identified, the scholarship may be given to a graduate from one of the high schools in any major.

Renewal criteria: Students who wish to be considered for renewal must file a new application each year and will be given equal consideration with other candidates.
