Theodore C. Wagenaar New City Kids Scholarship

Theodore Wagenaar attended Calvin as a first-generation student under extreme financial constraints and was fortunate to receive scholarships to cover his tuition. He would not have been able to attend college without them. He wishes to provide scholarships for similarly extremely financially constrained first-generation students and wishes to build on the success of the New City Kids in preparing students for college.

Basic criteria:

• entering freshman, sophomore, junior or senior year
• first-generation college student
• have participated in the New City Kids program
• financial need is required
• special consideration may be given to New City Kids graduates selected for the TRIO program

Renewal criteria: This scholarship is automatically renewable for up to three years if the student continues to make satisfactory academic progress. Renewal is subject to funding availability.
