Laura Bartleson Scholarship

Mrs. Laura Bartleson graduated from Calvin in 1959 with a major in elementary education. She is strongly committed to Christian education and spent 28 years teaching children in Grand Rapids Christian schools. Laura has a heart for single mothers and established this scholarship to encourage single mothers with young children to complete their college education.

Basic criteria:

• entering freshman, sophomore, junior or senior year
• female student
• demonstrate resourcefulness despite difficult circumstances, such as financial hardship or situational hardship (this may include being a child of a single mother, being a single mother with young children, being a ward of the court, orphan, homeless, in legal guardianship or coming from an unusual family situation)
• financial need is considered
• first preference is for a single mom

Renewal criteria: This scholarship is automatically renewable if the recipient continues to meet the scholarship criteria. Renewal is subject to funding availability.
