Kathryn De Weerd and Margaret Kleis Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established in memory of Miss Kathryn De Weerd and her dear friend Margaret Kleis. This scholarship originally began as the Kathryn De Weerd Memorial Scholarship. Kathryn was a lifelong member of the Pillar CRC in Holland, MI, and her deeply held belief that chiropractic medicine, which helped her attain an advanced age, should be pursued by Christian young women and men and should be considered a worthy profession, and an important alternative to the medical profession. Margaret, also a member of Pillar Church, and a close friend of Kathryn’s was also blessed to reach an advanced age through the help of her daughters who studied nursing at Calvin. She added to this scholarship enabling nurses to be considered in addition to Pre-Health professionals.
