David and Ellen Vellenga Operations and Supply Chain Management Scholarship

David [Calvin ‘60] was enthusiastic to learn that Calvin’s School of Business offers a concentration in Supply Chain Management. It is essential that Christians are fully aware of the importance of global supply chains in today’s businesses as well as disaster and humanitarian relief efforts. Additionally, there are many ethical concerns that face supply chain managers on a daily basis. A key component of the Calvin program is the requirement of study abroad opportunities. Therefore, this scholarship will aid students in participating in international seminars. David’s career included working as a supply corps/logistics officer in the US Navy, in purchasing and supply management for a major airline, as a SCM/Logistics professor at US and international universities, and involvement in humanitarian logistics work in Zambia, Africa.
