Jeanet Ebels grew up in the McBain/Vogel Center community in Michigan. Jeanet finished high school at 17, worked in the family store, and went on to finish her associate’s degree at Heaney Business College. Jeanet married Peter Ebels who served in WWII in England, France, and Belgium during the war years. When they came back to McBain, they opened up a grocery store business together and were very successful. Jeanet and Pete had two children, one of whom was Sheryl Ebels Durkee. Sheryl graduated from Calvin in 1965 with a degree in biology. Sheryl and her husband Gale lived in Oklahoma. Sheryl passed away on April 25, 2019.
