RDW Memorial Scholarship

Roger Woolley was born in the West Midlands, United Kingdom. He firmly believed that when an opportunity came your way it should be seized, and he reflected this philosophy throughout his life. Roger left school at 16 and while working full-time in a laboratory, attended university classes at night earning degrees in chemistry and marketing at the age of 24. His first position was in sales for an English chemical company, but when an opportunity came to work in the Netherlands he took it, moving his family to a new country. This set the course for the rest of his career; he relished every international travel opportunity his job presented, moving his family to the U.S. and Singapore. He was introduced to Calvin when his daughters attended and was impressed by the many international opportunities offered. He also encouraged his daughters to take part in every opportunity available to them. Roger was a man who made friends wherever he went and was a lifelong learner, world traveler, and lover of life. His family established this scholarship with the hope that this award will open doors to new opportunities for Calvin business students.
