Don VanWoerkom Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the family of Don VanWoerkom. Don graduated from Calvin College in 1981 with a B.S. in political science. Although he loved politics, while at Calvin he had the opportunity to enroll in computer courses when they were first offered. This quickly became his passion, and Don spent his career as IT Director at Gentex Corporation in Zeeland, Michigan. Don’s love for his Savior was reflected in every aspect of his life, and his commitment to his faith was evident through the life he lived. Don passed away from cancer only a year after his retirement. It is the hope of his wife and children that this scholarship will bless the lives of students who have lost a parent or sibling to cancer.
