Roels Business Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Drs. Shirley and John Roels when Shirley was a faculty member in the Department of Economics and Business. The scholarship is meant to encourage Calvin students to follow their sense of Christian calling to business study and practice in combination with the arts, humanities, and sciences. The first preference for this scholarship is to assist the Christian education of Calvin business students whose pre-college support for such study has been limited because of economic, social, educational, or familial factors.
Basic criteria:
- entering junior or senior year
- cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher
- majoring in business with a second major or minor in the arts, humanities and foundational sciences (majors and minors not included are computer science, data science, economics and engineering)
- show potential for leadership within the field of business or not-for-profit management
- financial need is not required but may be considered
- first preference will be given to a first-generation college student or to a student who demonstrates having prior limitations because of economic, social, educational, or familial factors
Renewal criteria: Students who wish to be considered for renewal must file a new application each year and will be given equal consideration with other candidates.
