Martin and Anna Sterk Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established in honor of Anna and Martin Sterk. As first-generation college students, Anna and Martin saw the value of education, and went on to serve their community as educators, encouraging and enriching the lives of many students. It is their family’s desire to provide opportunities for other first-generation students to pursue a calling as an educator with the blessing of a Calvin education.

Basic criteria:

• entering freshman year
• first-generation student
• pursuing an education major
• if no first-generation students qualify in a given year, the scholarship may be awarded to a first-generation upper-class student pursuing an education major
• if no first-generation eduation major students qualify, the scholarship may be awarded to any student pursuing an education major
• financial need is considered

Renewal criteria: This scholarship is automatically renewable for up to four years if the student continues to meet the scholarship criteria and makes satisfactory academic progress. Renewal is subject to funding availability.
