Alfred J. Reynolds and Bette Reynolds Goote Scholarship in Psychology

This scholarship was established by Bette Reynolds-Goote in memory of her husband, Alfred J. Reynolds, esteemed and much loved member of the Calvin Psychology Department from 1965 to 1990. In addition to teaching virtually all psychology majors for a quarter century, Dr. Reynolds served as the first Director of Calvin’s Psychological Institute, now the Broene Counseling Center. Strongly committed to Christian higher education, Dr. Reynolds inspired and challenged his students to achieve their potential and, at the same time, demonstrated patience, compassion, and an insightful understanding of their individual differences.

Basic criteria:

  • entering junior or senior year
  • majoring in psychology
  • preference will be given to a male student
  • financial need is not required
  • preference will be given to those who have demonstrated excellence in statistics and research design and plans to pursue graduate study in psychology

Renewal criteria: Students who wish to be considered for renewal must file a new application each year and will be given equal consideration with other candidates.
