Hearst Foundation Scholarship

The Hearst Foundation and the William Randolph Hearst Foundation were founded in the 1940’s by publisher and philanthropist William Randolph Hearst. The two foundations reflect the philanthropic interests of Mr. Hearst: human services, education, health, and culture. Specific priorities include “programs to aid poverty-level and minority groups…and education programs with emphasis on private secondary and higher education.”

Basic criteria:

  • entering freshman year
  • cumulative high school GPA of 3.00 or higher
  • first consideration will be given to students who have participated in Calvin’s Entrada program. If there are no Entrada alumni who are qualified for consideration, other candidates will be considered who meet the above criteria and who will enhance the university’s goal of increasing the diversity of the student body
  • financial need will be considered

Renewal criteria: This scholarship is automatically renewable with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher (three years only). Renewal is subject to funding availability.
