Joseph Galema Music Scholarship

Dr. Galema, a 1976 graduate of Calvin, established this scholarship to the glory of God and in thanksgiving for the outstanding education, especially from the Music Department, which he received at Calvin. In the fall of 1976, he went to the University of Michigan where he completed requirements for the Master of Music in organ performance degree in 1978 and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in 1982. In September 1982, he joined the staff of the US Air Force Academy, where he served as Cadet Chapel Music Director and Academy Organist for 32 years. Following his employment with the US Air Force Academy, Dr. Galema took a position with First United Methodist Church in Colorado Springs where he serves as the Principal Organist.
