Nicholas Jelles Scholarship

Dr. Nicholas Jelles attended Calvin as a pre-dental student in the late 1920’s. Though he appreciated his Calvin education immensely, especially the courses with Dr. Jellema, he regretted not being able to take more liberal arts courses. This scholarship is intended to encourage students in their liberal arts education.

Basic criteria:

• entering freshman year
• cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher
• demonstrate Christian commitment by being actively involved in volunteer and service related activities as well as involvement in church, community and school activities outside of the classroom
• planning to pursue a pre-dental program. If no candidates meet this criteria, then it may be awarded to any other student meeting the other criteria
• financial need is considered

Renewal criteria: This scholarship is not renewable.
