Lorraine J. VanderArk Education Scholarship

Dave ’61 and Lorrie VanderArk ’62 have been blessed throughout the years, and would like to give back to Calvin by investing in students who want to become teachers. Lorrie grew up in Grand Rapids and always knew she wanted to be a teacher. She pursued a degree in education at Calvin and was the first college graduate in her family. Lorrie is grateful for the ways Calvin prepared her to be an educator, and now she and Dave want to encourage first generation students in their goal of completing a college education.

Basic criteria:

• entering sophomore, junior or senior year
• majoring in education
• financial need is considered
• first preference will be given to a first generation college student

Renewal criteria: This scholarship is automatically renewable if the recipient continues to meet all of the scholarship criteria. Renewal is subject to funding availability.
