John and Mary Gideon Family Scholarship

This scholarship was established by John and Mary Gideon as an expression of gratitude for material blessings and for the education Calvin has provided to their family. John worked as a Learning Disabilities Specialist and Mary as an elementary school teacher. It is their belief that children with disabilities need Christian teachers who can show compassion and understanding in addition to imparting academic and life skills.

Basic criteria:

• entering junior or senior year
• pursuing a degree in special education
• demonstrate strong Christian character
• financial need is required
• preference will be given to students who have the best ability to deal with and connect with their students

Renewal criteria: Students who wish to be considered for renewal must file a new application each year and will be given equal consideration with other candidates.
