Richard and Sylvia Wevers Scholarship

This scholarship was originally established by Richard and Sylvia Wevers to support students of Greek in their preparation for service in Christian ministry. The scholarship was inspired by Richard’s 35-year career as a professor of classics, in which he helped to train countless pre-seminarians. Curricular changes in recent years have led them to repurpose the scholarship to support male students in elementary education. From family experiences, the Wevers know what a positive difference a male teacher can make for boys at that age, especially those who do not have a father figure in their lives. Two of their daughters, and two of their grand-daughters have taught in elementary education for many years in many locations.
