William Van Eerden Family

William Van Eerden Family

This scholarship is established by William E. Van Eerden, M.D., as a memorial to the life of Connie L.Van Eerden, his wife of 46 years and mother of their three daughters. It honors her love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, her beloved family, and her life-long commitment to Christian education, especially Calvin College. Connie matriculated through Christian elementary and high school, graduating from Calvin College in 1963. She taught mathematics at Chicago Christian High School, Millbrook Christian School, and in the Student Academic Services program at Calvin, and she worked several years in the Calvin Admissions office. Connie acquired a Masters degree from Grand Valley State University in the field of computer application to education in the classroom. She enjoyed music, playing the piano, organ and bassoon. She supported several Calvin programs, including the January Series, Festival of Faith and Writing, and Calvin Academy of Lifelong Learning. Her life is a testimony to her calling, her gifts and commitment to Christian teaching and learning. Applicants will be mathematics majors who demonstrate this same passion for Christian education.
