Stanley and Norma Sterk

Norma Weiden Sterk is a graduate of Calvin College. Her passion is education. She started teaching second semester of her senior year at Calvin, graduating with her class in 1962. Norma taught for a few years in traditional Christian private schools and then took a call to teach in a one room school in a rural area north of Grand Rapids. It was in this situation that she learned about the differences in learning styles. As she became more proficient at reaching those students that had difficulty learning in a traditional method, she took additional classes and then did graduate work in the area of gifted and talented. Norma now is involved in supervising student teachers and encourages them to teach the way children learn.
