Ruth Ann Handlogten-Huisman Family

This scholarship in memory of Ruth Ann Handlogten-Huisman has been established by her brother Howard Handlogten and her husband Howard Huisman. Ruth Ann’s caring personality led her to a career in nursing. Graduating from Blodgett School of Nursing, she rose to positions in quality management at Blodgett Hospital, Borgess Hospital, and the V.A. Outpatient Clinic in Columbus, Ohio. She was a hard-working, detail-oriented person who took great pride in her work, and is remembered by her colleagues as the one to whom they would turn for practical solutions to nursing problems. This scholarship is established to encourage students who will carry on her spirit of dedication to nursing.
