Mary Van Heuvelen

This scholarship is established by Mary Van Heuvelen to honor her parents, Raymond and Florence Van Heuvelen, with gratitude for their strong Christian values and commitment to provide a Christian and academically excellent education for their five children at the Holland Christian Schools, Holland, MI. As a Calvin alumnae, Mary has a deep respect for the way Calvin prepares students for their vocation, doing their work as servants of God. Mary drew her inspiration to provide this scholarship by reading the numerous stories in the Spark of Calvin alumni being well equipped for their callings. This scholarship is designed to encourage students in the medical or scientific fields. The candidate for this scholarship will demonstrate enthusiasm for, and a strong commitment to, the academic work in their field of study. They should also be of good moral character as evidenced by their life and have a desire to model their Christianity in the decisions they make in their chosen field.
