Luke and Becky Bagnall Spanish Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Luke and Becky Bagnall and is also supported with matching gifts from State Farm Insurance. ?Luke ‘06 and Becky ‘07 met on the swim team at Calvin College, where Luke was majoring in business and Becky in Spanish. ?As Becky was preparing for a career in Spanish education she took a summer off to teach in Juticalpa, Honduras. ?Much of that experience impacted her view on Spanish education and the value that language learning can have if done in the context of relationships. She took this passion into her teaching at Grand Rapids Christian Schools where she focused on integrating and connecting her students with the local Grand Rapids Hispanic community. ?The Bagnall’s desire for this scholarship is for a Spanish major who is passionate about the opportunity that language learning can have on his or her local community.
